ELECTRICITY PRICES FOR 2004. IN EUROPE

After initial experiences with electricity market it is obvious that electricity prices started to increase. The following figures taken from EU electricity market benchmarking report show electricity prices in European countries for two consumer categories: average household with annual consumption of 3500 kWh/year and average industry with annual consumption of 24 GWh/year. For detailed analysis all consumer categories should be analyzed.

The following figure shows that electricity price for average household in EU is in the range between 59 €/MWh (Malta) and 141 €/MWh (Italy). Electricity price for households in Croatia are equal to 73 €/MWh.

The following figure shows electricity price change for households in the period July 2003/July 2004. The biggest change was obtained in UK and Norway (-11%) and in Hungary (+15%).

Industrial consumer with annual consumption of 24 GWh/year in Europe in 2004 paid electricity price in between 35 €/MWh in Norway and 76 €/MWh in Cyprus. Average electricity price for industrial consumer in Croatia is lower than EU average and it is equal to 38 €/MWh.

The following figure shows electricity price change for analyzed industrial consumer in the period July 2003/July 2004. The biggest change was obtained in Slovenia (-11%), and in Romania (+22%) and Sweden (+27%). In the period 2003/2004 electricity price in Croatia had no change.
