The Croatian Electric Utility Company Benchmarking Project
This project defines benchmarks for all core business
activities of the Croatian Electric Utility Company (HEP),
district heating companies and natural gas distribution
companies. It proposes a model for monitoring the
business results achieved by HEP Group, and establishes
a structure of business indicators for the following
bodies: HEP’s Management Board, HEP’s Supervisory
Board, the Croatian Energy Regulatory Council,
various Croatian ministries, the Government of the
Republic of Croatia etc.
The project illustrates the theory behind benchmarking
as a management tool. It provides two sets of indicators
(technical and economic) for each area of HEP’s
operation. The experience gained in developed countries
has carefully been studied when developing the
set of indicators for HEP’s core activities - generation,
transmission and distribution of electricity. In conformity
with the existing business environment within
HEP Group, business solutions tailored to suit the
needs of its Management Board and Supervisory Board
were presented in the study.
