Optimal Planning of Medium-Voltage Electricity Distribution Networks
The purpose of the project is to improve existing models for medium-voltage (MV)
electricity distribution network planning and develop new computing algorithms
based on optimisation methods.
To optimally plan MV networks means to determine an adequate schedule for
building and reconstruction of in-feed transformer stations and MV lines. The
schedule needs to satisfy load increase in existing, and new load in future consume
while fulfilling defined planning criteria and minimal total costs. Fulfilment of
defined planning criteria and minimal total costs is a prerequisite for such optimal
planning. Past planning involved the utilisation of computer methods for variant
or interactive planning whereby it was the planner who defined development variants
and was presented with their energy and cost-related characteristics. The
new methods will be a basis for coding software modules for optimum planning.
Their efficient application requires an adequately developed AM/FM/GIS system.
