Investment Study for the Modernisation of the
Lighting System in Elementary Schools in The
City of Karlovac, Republic of Croatia
The project analyses the energy baseline, energy demand and the cost of lighting
systems in selected elementary schools within the city of Karlovac. An investment
study for the system’s modernisation has been elaborated. A model and
procedures for the project’s implementation and financing have also been proposed.
The study analyses the present condition of the lighting system in schools; illustrates
the general features of the examined schools (number of pupils, area, operating
hours); assesses the condition of the lighting system; describes the types of
lighting fixtures and the installed management and regulation system for lighting;
and analyses annual consumption and cost of electricity. Schools with an adequate
potential for energy efficiency and modernisation measures in the lighting system
have been singled out and an overview of necessary measures has been proposed.
