The Solar Radiation Atlas for the Republic of Croatia is the first publication which
encompasses almost every aspect of solar radiation utilisation. It is an indispensable
manual both for passive solar energy installations in buildings and the transformation
of solar energy into heat or electricity.
The atlas is a result of a joint effort by the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and
Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Croatia and the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar to summarise all readily available data on the utilisation of solar energy under the
framework of the National Energy Programme of Solar Energy Utilisation (SUNEN).
The main component of the study consists of an assessment of solar radiation in
the Republic of Croatia and models for estimating solar radiation. The study provides
an overview of radiation data, a complete methodology for calculating solar
radiation and an explanation of the advantages associated with each model. Special
care has been taken to ensure that the atlas is both terminologically and methodologically
compatible with the European Atlas of Solar Radiation.
