The project aims to implement wind atlas methodology and examine the spatial distribution of wind and solar radiation potential within a selected pilot region. The basis for project activities consists of data collected from in situ measurements.

The project is initiated and financed through the EC CARDS technical assistance programme. The programme aims to fulfil goals defined in the implementation documents (EC CARDS Country Strategy Paper Croatia 2002 - 2006 and the Multi- Annual Indicative Programme 2002 - 2004). Programme priorities include the utilisation and promotion of renewable energy sources and environmental protection.

Research to be undertaken under the framework of the project shall result in a database and background information (wind and solar radiation atlas) for strategic (Energy Sector Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia) planning of renewable energy sources.
