Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar has become one of 10 Partner's and National Contact Point in GreenBuildingplus Project within the Intelligent Energy Europe 2006 call. Theme of this project is information and promotion campaign for general public on improving energy efficiency in non residential buildings and award competition for most successful realized projects.

GreenBuildingplus is continuation of the successful pilot phase from the Green Building Programme. Application of developed procedures, best practice examples and existing partners and endorsers involvment one of the main aims is the information campaign to gather more participants. In the scope of project 4 workshops will be organized with visiting energy efficient buildings. The aim of the GreenBuildingplus Project is to trigger investments in energy efficient technologies in non residential buildings in all of Europe. The project will by improving information availability on the complex theme of energy efficiency help in removing market barriers that are currently preventing investments in efficient and renewable technologies. For targets groups and key actors involved technical assistance will be provided through expert literature and promotion of the accomplished results by awarding 10 national and a European award. Result of this project phase is involving 100 new realized projects where the investment in energy efficiency has resulted in reducing energy costs. Energy consumption reduction in existing buildings by 30% and in new buildings energy consumption 30% lower than valid national regulation is criterion for joining GreenBuildingplus project. Reduction of energy consumption in buildings will leverage primary energy consumption reduction and furthermore to CO 2 emission reduction. Final contribution is GHG emission mitigation which is by ratification of the Kyoto Protocol an obligation of the Republic of Croatia.
