The purpose of this project is the development of regional framework for exploring the evolution of the energy market in the SEE countries . I t includes establishment of a network of regional experts from each participating country, and their development of consistent data sets and models for energy system analysis of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria and Albania. Enregy Institute Hrvoje Požar has leading role in this project with the cooperation with USAID that is financing the project.
The m ethodoly used in this project is consistent with that being employed by the NEEDS that is under development for the expanded EU, Norway and Switzerland, with the main focus being regional energy market analysis and associated externalities in the EU.
Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar will serve as Regional Integrator of the modeling framework, under subcontract of IRG Ltd. (International Resource Group) from USA, and together are develop ing the SEE-relevant MARKAL model that is to be used in analysis.
