In the framework of Intelligent Energy Europe programme, Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar participates in preparation of the project: “Optimised Support Schemes for Energy from Renewable Sources (Electricity, Heating, Cooling)” – acronym: SUPPORT_ERS. Twelve institutions from nine countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia and Spain) participate in the project. Project leader is Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ, Germany). The project started in November 2007 and will be completed by January 2010 (27 months).

SUPPORT_ERS project contributes to the reduction of administrative barriers for the use of renewable energy sources (RES) in the new EU member states and candidate countries, presents political decision makers options to support RES-Heat/Cool, gives recommendations for RES-Electricity supporting system improvements and increases the awareness of regional stakeholders about the benefits of RES. The outcomes of the SUPPORT_ERS consortium are comprehensive overview of renewable heating and cooling (RES-H/C) support instruments and policy recommendations for RES-H/C support in the partner countries, examples of good practice for the improvement of administrative procedures relating to RES support schemes, as well as market reviews on RES technologies. Moreover, training seminars for regional administrations and stakeholders will be developed and conducted. The project helps in optimising support mechanisms to speed up RES market development and intensifies the cooperation among European actors to meet the ambitious RES targets for 2010.
