The Development of a Pre-Commercial 750 kW
Wind Power System
Project Code TP-01/008-03 (2003 - 2005)
The main task of the project is to build capacity within the Croatian industry to construct
wind power facilities. This includes capacity building for the development,
construction and experimental operation of a wind turbine which would be synchronised
with the electricity network. During 2002, two institutions (Končar -
Institute for Electric Engineering as project leader and the Energy Institute Hrvoje
Požar as project associate) proposed a so-called Complex Technological Development
Project (STIRP) entitled: The Development of a Pre-Commercial 750
kW Wind Power System; which the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of
the Republic of Croatia agreed to finance. The project aims to develop new technologies
for a generator, frequency converter and management system that utilise
modern design and construction tools. The project’s results shall be verified in situ
by performing measurements on selected test locations. This project has the potential
to incite new employment and create adequate preconditions for the penetration
of Croatian companies on domestic and international wind energy markets.
