Ph.D. THESIS
D. Bajs, Method and Criteria for Revitalization of Transmission Network, Ph.D. Thesis, University of Split, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Split, Croatia, July 2007
This Ph. D. thesis considers the problem of transmission assets ageing and analyze the impact of ageing on power system reliability. Revitalization criteria and methodology for prioritization of the transmission lines and transformers are defined.
Method for short-term future unavailability of transmission assets is described also, based on data related to the past unavailability’s from operational statistics, inverse cumulative distribution functions and assumed probabilities.
Revitalisation criteria are divided into two groups: criteria dependent on the assets real condition and criteria dependent on the assets role and significance inside a power system. Using probabilistic simulations of system operation and multi-scenario analysis expected annual system operational costs are calculated. Revitalization criteria are quantified on the basis of these costs related to different levels of assets unavailability, and significance indices as the measure of assets role and significance within a system are calculated.
Using these indices together with the assets condition indices, unique revitalisation prioritization list is defined.
