Description: Within M.Sc. thesis the topics of interest in energy management systems are discussed. The issues such as contingency selection and analysis algorithms for power system security analysis using Tellegen's Theorem, DC and fast de-coupled load flow, performance indices, Ward and REI external equivalents and sparse matrix techniques attracted most of the attention. A number of computer programs are developed for studying steady-state load flows after line outages with prediction of severity of their consequences using several forms of basic performance index. Among them, the greatest efforts are put along developing fast de-coupled load flow program with sparse matrix techniques being implemented in memorisation and factorisation procedures. The REI external equivalent and different performance indices in outage analyses are also added. This work enabled publishing of several papers as well.
